ENTRY No. 1 ~ JOJOS MAKES BAKES
1. JoJos Makes Bakes
Information:
This is a large tag cube, made especially for my friends baby who is due in the middle of March, hence the “spring” association.
It took me approximately 3 hours to make, but the majority of that time was spent working out where the tags needed to be positioned before the six squares could be sewn together!
The material is a baby blue dimple fabric, which has been re-in forced with iron on stabiliser, and the ribbons are silky for tactile benefits. It has been stuffed with suitable toy filling.
If I were to make more, which I am happy to do, I would charge £15 plus p&p.

ENTRY NO. 7 ~ NOTIONS OF BRECHIN
Information:
My entry is a customized, vintage handmade, woollen fabric, undertakers jacket.
I embroidered the designs onto felt & they were hand sewn in place. The symmetry was particularly difficult to achieve but I think I’ve managed it well. The theme of the jacket is Steam Punk /Scottish….with my own twist! The lovely gold colour is the tone of freesias & the red roses herald the beings of Spring. Thistles are the flowers attributed to Scotland, the clockwork motives…the passage of time…out of winter & into spring. The choice of an undertakers jacket to upcycle is symbolic of rebirth of clothing, like new shoots of flowers coming again. The use of the steampunk inspired kiltpin brooch is all related to time passing & new starts. This jacket took me weeks to compose & complete. There are many hours of embroidery & hand sewing in this garment…I love it!
