Public Liability Insurance

If you wish to sell at Craft Fairs, you will most probably need Public Liability Insurance as some Craft Fair organisers will not allow you to sell at their events without it.  Particularly if you are going to be selling at outdoor events, you need to check your cover includes indoor and outdoor events.

Here are a few sites we have found that do this type of insurance, but please note, we are in no way recommending or endorsing any of these insurance companies, so please ensure that you do your own research and go with the insurance that best suits your needs.

Please also note, if you have not registered your business, your insurance could potentially be null and void in the event of a claim.

    Hello,

I’ve just spoken to someone from Simply Business and they told me that they can’t give anybody liability insurance if they also make earrings!!! They said because it goes through the skin the insurance will not take that risk… So, be careful. If you consider them as they are a bit cheaper, please call them and speak to an advisor…

The Guild of Jewellery Designers have PPL insurance as part of their Gold Plus and Gold Extra memberships which also covers craft makers and includes discounts from many supplier partners (e.g. bullion dealers, casting services, engraving, photography to list only a few!)
