TCN CRAFT CHALLENGE ~ Autumn ~ Please Vote!

27 Sep

Welcome to The Crafty Network Blog Craft Challenge.  We are now asking for people to VOTE for their favourite entry from the selection of entries below, to enable us to declare a Winner and 2 Runners Up of this challenge on Friday evening.

(Not sure what this is all about, then please visit: Challenge Rules and see details about the theme for this challenge in the previous post.)

I think this has to be one of my favourite themes this year as I just love the colours of autumn.  19 people have taken up the challenge with some excellent entries this week. All they need now is your support by taking on the difficult task of voting for your favourite!

In order to declare a WINNER of this Competition, we need YOU our lovely Followers to comment below this post quoting the No. of the photo you like best.  For those of you who are undecided, you can vote for more than one, but limit it to choosing just 3 and please make it clear which is your first, second and third choice.

ie. No. 1 = 3pts (1st choice),   No. 2 = 2pts (2nd choice), No. 6 = 1pt (3rd choice).

If you pick just one, this will count as 3 points.

You can also send in your votes via email if you wish to: or message me via the TCN Facebook page

(Please Note:  The Crafty Network, will not use or retain your email addresses for any marketing purposes and once the vote has been counted, your emails will be deleted).

The voting will close at 8PM on FRIDAY and the winner with the most points will be announced at 9PM, along with the 2 runners-up.

Thank you & Good luck with your choices, as always this is a really hard decision.

Please click on the first photo and this will take you to a bigger view of all of the photos.  (Sometimes this can take a little while to load, sorry!)  Also, below the photos are the pages links and the inspiration behind each entry.

1.  Cloth and Clay ~

A hand-painted silk pongee scarf in autumn colours.  The design is one I’ve made in several different colourways but this one was the first and the inspiration for the others.  The design features a row of large leaves at either end with smaller leaves and stalk-like shapes randomly over the rest of the scarf.  My work can also be seen on:  and

2.       Crafty Bags ~

My Autumn leaves needle case which I made recently.

3.  Ring O Roses Jewellery ~

This piece is part of a collection I’m working on currently that hasn’t even appeared on my page yet.  It’s called Colours of Fall and the beautiful autumnal palette is inspired by our local woodland which is a mix of both deciduous and evergreen trees.

4.  Rosewood Crafts ~

The many colours of Autumn can be found here in my, Rainbow Tree Vase’.

5.  VB Pure Designs ~

Autumn leaves

6.  Yowe ~ Facebook: Yowe

It’s a waterfall style scarf handknitted using kidmohair & silk yarn. It is being modelled in this photo by my eldest daughter (the new mum!)

The scarf is available from The link to my Facebook page (new likers entered into prize draw at the end of September) is Yowe

7.       Lisa Bushells Wall Art ~

Hand painted Autumn Leaf Canvas

8.  SilknCard Creations ~ and my Facebook Page is

I have hand made the attached greeting card from 100% Japanese Silk sourced directly from Japan.

9.  Lizzie Rose Jewellery ~ –

Autumn Leaves Bracelet ~ I love the earthy rich colours of Autumn and this bracelet sums it up perfectly for me, with its leaf designs and ‘berry’ style glass beads.  I could wear it all year round!

10. JoJos Makes & Bakes ~

This is my first attempt at patchwork, and is a small quilt for a child. Makes me think of being wrapped up to keep out the chill and wind.

11.  My Sister Mabel ~

Made with vintage 1970’s Autumnal print fabric, a versatile long sleeve smock dress, can be worn with boots or layered over leggings or jeans.  Age 2-3  £20.00

12.  MissyDee Jewellery ~

Cuff Wraparound Bracelet – reminds me of fabulous walks in the woods on Autumn days….  clear blue sky, turquoise gemstone , crunchy leaves underfoot….. wooden & glass beads in amber and brown colours.

13.  Lime Green Lizzie ~,

I made the little box for City and Guilds.  The fabric has been dyed in some of my favourite colours and stitched in a random pattern around the box.  I have topped the lid with a lovely little wooden button.

14.  Handcrafted By Picto ~ Facebook –
Folksy –  Blog-

This ‘Autumn Toadstools’ painting is an original design and an original painting NOT a print.  Painted using Acrylics onto 140lb Daler & Rowney paper.
It is double mounted, the outer size is 8″ x 10″ image size 6″ x 8″

15.  Milly and Me ~

All ready for Halloween… this prim crow is perched on a branch with lovely autumn leaves and pip berries   :).  Crow is made from black cotton fabric with black bead and painted eyes, and has been coated with a coffee and cinnamon mix and oven baked for a wonderful prim effect.  The leaves are made from pretty autumnal colour cotton fabrics, backed with felt and top stitched onto wire stems.  They have been glued and taped to the branch (a covered willow stick), together with stems of pip berries.

The branch measures approx 34cms from end to end, including the end leaves, and has one ‘invisible’ hanging loop attached to the top of crow’s head.

16.  Dorothy and Theodore ~

It’s a Vintage Fabric Cushion called “Dans Le Jardin” which has some gorgeous Autumnal colours. By Jesse Robin

17.  Sarahs Card Creations ~

18.  Woolrush ~ Website  facebook @woollygael

Jacket ‘Sheena’ in colourway ‘Autumn’. hand knitted in my own hand spun colour splash shetland yarn. Original design.

19.  Me Makey You Likey ~

Cross stitch cushion, it was from a French pattern (obviously!) and reads “To think is to search for clearing in the forest”. Although not completely autumnal, with the trees being red it did may me think of a forest with autumn colours when I was stitching it!

This is a nightmare!! How on earth do I choose?!! With the risk of being considered fussy, I’m going to be really fussy! The photo one of these items isn’t great and that affects my decision, as the appeal of the item is lost through our only contact with the item, which is the photo. Another item is fairly basic (gosh that sounds awful) yet the photos of them are really effective. I can’t speak though because I’m not a photographer but I’m just saying that it really does impact on your impression of the item, so making a few bits of effort can really help.
Right, enough of my rambling, it’s decision time:
1= No.14-handcrafted by Picto – brilliant work Jan! Love it!
    2= No.2 -crafty bags
    3= No.5- VB pure designs

Right, now I’m off to look at wall art and cardigan related websites!
