Hello and Welcome to The Crafty Network Blog.
The idea for The Crafty Network was started on the 1st May 2011, after 3 like-minded crafty friends, Kay, Linda and Lynsay sat in a pub (all good ideas start in a pub!) discussing how hard it was to get noticed and sell our items on the Net and we all agreed promotion and networking was the key. We also knew other crafters had the same problems too.
We agreed that if we could bring together all crafters, craft suppliers and event organisers to one place this would make it easier for them to network, promote and sell their products and services. But not only that we also wanted to be able to provide an informative service as well.
The Crafty Network was born and our Facebook page was launched on the 13th May 2011 and it received an amazing response, receiving over 100 likes in its first 24 hours. 44 days later we reached a milestone of 1000 likes and we held our first free to enter competition to celebrate.
We have continued to grow and currently have over 1750 members and we are welcoming new ‘friends/members’ to our page on a daily basis. Our aim is to visit and like every new page and give them a friendly TCN welcome and we actively encourage all our members to promote their products and services and join in with our promotions and networking opportunities.
Our key achievements so far:
- We have launched a number of photo incentives to showcase other crafters and will continue to do more.
- We have opened up our Events Tab and helped publicise other people’s craft events and will continue to do so.
- We have a number of topics in our Discussions Tab, including a list of other networking pages on Facebook, Facebook Suppliers, Events Organisers and Craft Fair stall tips. We have also just started (Sep 11) a list of Directories for crafters to list their pages, so it will help people find them better if they are looking for something specific.
- We started The Crafty ‘Netwalk’, each week we take a stroll around 10 nominated pages helping them to achieve more fans. (currently on a summer break, to be resumed shortly).
Our blog is our next step along our long climb to help promote the hardworking, handmade, crafting community, we hope we can get your support for our blog as much as we have for our Facebook page?

(Unfortunately Lynsay has had to pull out for the time being due to her own personal work commitments, but we hope she may want to join us again soon).
